If you’ve just upgraded to iOS 10, you might be wondering, where’s the camera icon that used to be in the bottom-right corner. Swiping up on that corner doesn’t do anything either. Did Apple remove the camera shortcut in iOS 10? I mean, given the whole new Lock screen changes, you wouldn’t put it past them. But no, the shortcut for launching the camera is still there. There’s no icon for it though.

How To Quickly Launch The Camera From Lock Screen

To launch the camera on your iPhone from the Lock screen, you’ll need to swipe left on the entire screen (the part of it that’s not already convered with notifications).

Camera will then swipe in the screen as a pane. Just like there’s the widgets screen on the left side of the Lock screen, the camera is in the right.

How To Quickly Take A Selfie From The Lock Screen

Want to take a selfie instead? If you’re using an iPhone 6s or up, you can use a new 3D Touch shortcut the Control Center to directly open the camera, in the selfie mode.

Step 1: On the Lock screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to reveal the Control Center.

Step 2: 3D Touch on the “Camera” icon that’s the 4 icon in the bottom row.

Step 3: Tap on “Take Selfie“.
