The jailbreak scene has been buzzing with news lately. Developer and Hacker tihmstar recently revealed that he was able to successfully jailbreak iOS 10.3.3.
As you can see above, tihmstar has tweeted the image of Cydia running on jailbroken iPhone 5 running iOS 10.3.3.
iOS 10.3.3 was the last update for iOS 11. It also means that if the iOS 10.3.3 jailbreak is released, iOS devices like the iPhone 5, iPhone 5C and iPad 4th generation can be jailbroken forever, since iOS 10.3.3 was the final release supported for these iOS devices.
But before you get too excited, please note that tihmstar has also said that there is still a lot of work left before he can release the iOS 10.3.3 jailbreak. He needs to work on the following things to release the iOS 10.3.3 jailbreak:
- proper sandbox patches to get cydia fully working (maybe)
- patches to get mobilesubstrate working
- offsets for anything but i5 10.3.3
- fancy app
It is still too early to provide an ETA on when the iOS 10.3.3 jailbreak is released. But since he has confirmed he is working on the jailbreak, it is not the case of whether an iOS 10.3.3 jailbreak is released, it is a case of when it will be released.
Ever since Apple released iOS 10.2 to fix the vulnerabilities used by Yalu jailbreak, there hasn’t been a jailbreak release. So even though it won’t be useful for users who have already upgraded to iOS 11, it is good news for people who haven’t upgraded to iOS 11 and have been waiting patiently on iOS 10.3.3.
Meanwhile, we are also eagerly waiting for iOS 11.1.2 or iOS 11.2.1 jailbreak as Ian Beer has released the tfp0 iOS 11.1.2 exploit which could be used to develop a jailbreak, and security researchers have been able to successfully jailbreak iPhone X on iOS 11.2.1.
We will let you know as soon as there any further updates about the iOS 10.3.3 jailbreak.
