Apple will be releasing iOS 11 to the public on September 19 after months of beta testing. iOS 11 comes with a number of new features, and like with every major new iOS release, it also drops support for certain older devices.
If you are wondering whether your iPhone or iPad is compatible with iOS 11 or not, fret not as we have you covered.
iOS 11 Does Not Support These Devices
With iOS 11, Apple is dropping support for 32-bit apps which also means that iPhones, iPad, and iPod Touch powered by a 32-bit A-series chipset will not be supported by it. So, when iOS 11 drops later this year, it will not be supported the following devices:
- iPhone 5
- iPhone 5c
- iPad 3
- iPad 4
iOS 11 Compatibility List
All other iOS devices that were previously supported on iOS 10 will continue to be supported under iOS 11 as well. This includes the following devices:

iOS 11 also comes with Apple Pay Cash peer-to-peer payment feature which will only be available on the following devices in the US:

- iPhone 6s Plus

With iOS 11 dropping support for 32-bit apps completely, it was a given that 32-bit iOS devices would be incompatible with iOS 11 as well.
ARKit, one of the key new features in iOS 11 that brings augmented reality support to the platform, is also going to be only available on iPhones and iPads that are powered by A9 or A10 chipset.

Older iPhones and iPads powered by A8 or older chipset will not support ARKit and owners of these devices won’t be able to enjoy AR apps. With ARKit bringing alive a whole new world of apps and games, I’d say its time to upgrade from your old iPhone or iPad just to experience some ARKit enabled apps.
