We’ve some great news.
planetbeing and MuscleNerd of the evad3rs team has just confirmed that it is safe to upgrade to iOS 6.1, which was seeded an hour back.
Update:
Please check Update 2 before you update your iOS device to iOS 6.1.
That didn’t take much time. As soon as iOS 6.1 was available for download, planetbeing had said that they were reviewing the public version of iOS 6.1.
A few moments back, MuscleNerd has confirmed that it is safe to update to iOS 6.1. So jailbreakers can go and update to iOS 6.1 and wait for the evad3rs dev team to release the jailbreak.
iOS 6.1 appears to be vulnerable to the exploits we are planning on using. 🙂

@MikeBeas @evad3rs yep 6.1 is safe

In terms of code, we have two proof of concepts that we need to merge and polish, so we will not be ready to release until that and testing.

MuscleNerd has also hinted that the jailbreak could be released on Sunday:
Hey, did everyone know the Super Bowl is this Sunday? What will you be doing? /cc @evad3rs http://t.co/9fEgKI3b

As we had reported earlier, the jailbreak will support all iOS 6.1 compatible devices, except for Apple TV 3. So the following iOS devices will be supported:
- iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS
- iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2, iPad mini
- iPod touch 5G, iPod Touch 4G
- Apple TV 2
Update 1:
MuscleNerd has just confirmed that Apple TV 2 will also be supported.
Awesome…as @EvilPenguin_ pointed out, we're seeing the final ATV2 6.1 today too. So ATV2 will be covered by the JB (not ATV3 tho).

Update 2:
pimskeks of the Evad3rs has just clarified that if jailbreakers want to update to iOS 6.1 then they should do a full restore via iTunes and not take the OTA route:
If you people plan to upgrade to iOS 6.1 please don't do an OTA upgrade. Please make a full restore using iTunes.

We’ll update the post as soon as we’ve more clarity.
