We finally have an update on the eagerly awaited iOS 7.1.1 or iOS 7.1 jailbreak.
As you know it is currently not possible to jailbreak iOS 7.1/7.1.1. But I have some good news. pod2g of the evad3rs has said that he is working on a jailbreak for iOS 7.1.
This is great news as it is a departure from his previous comments. Back in March when Apple released iOS 7.1 which killed the evasi0n7 jailbreak, he had mentioned they won’t focus on iOS 7.1 jailbreak, and most likely keep the vulnerabilities they’ve discovered for iOS 8.
Here’s what he had to say to folks at iDB at the WWJC few days back:
Not today, and I don’t know about the future. I’ve started to look at it, and started to find some stuff. I think that something’s possible. It depends on when it happens—I mean if we have a jailbreak in one month, for sure we will release it. If it happens in 3 months, we might have to wait for iOS 8. But I’m definitely on it, definitely trying to find something.
The first jailbreak for iOS 7 was available only at the end of last year. Let’s hope pod2g and members of the evad3rs’ team can figure out a way to jailbreak iOS 7.1 soon, as waiting until iOS 8 would mean a very long wait. I am certainly a lot more hopeful of a iOS 7.1/iOS 7.1.1 jailbreak.
In the meantime, as we’ve mentioned several times, any site claiming to have a jailbreak for iOS 7.1.1/7.1 is a scam, so stay clear from such scam sites. If there is a jailbreak for iOS 7.1 or iOS 7.1.1, it will be available for free, and we’ll be the first to report it here.
