At today’s Apple event, Craig Frederighi announced that iOS 8.1 will be available for download to all compatible devices this Monday, October 20th.
iOS 8.1’s major highlight is support for Apple Pay, the company’s mobile payments system that will work at retail stores and in apps. It also brings iCloud Photo Library in beta and support for Messages Continuity.
iOS 8.1 was seeded to registered developers a few weeks ago as a beta for them to test their apps.
iOS 8.1 is available for the following iOS devices:
- iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5, iPhone 4S
- iPad Air, Retina iPad mini, iPad 4, iPad mini, iPad 3, iPad 2
- 5th generation iPod touch
We also hope that the release fixes many of the bugs introduced in iOS 8.0.x releases.
