Apple has just released iOS 8.1 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch with Apple Pay support, SMS Relay, Instant Hotspot, Camera Roll and more. The update is available as an Over-the-air (OTA) download, but some users are reporting problems while installing the update.

Unable to install Update

Our readers are reporting errors that say “Unable to install update” when attempting to install iOS 8.1 OTA. While there could be multiple reasons this alert pops up, one reason is if you have low battery on your iPhone or iPad. If this is the case, just plug your Lightning cable to your device to start charging it, and now you should be able to install the update without any problems. If the update had already been downloaded, you won’t have to download it again.

If this doesn’t work you can try manually updating to iOS 8.1 via iTunes on your Mac or PC. You can find the direct download links to iOS 8.1 here.
