JailbreakMe 3.0

MuscleNerd, member of the iPhone Dev Team has tweeted that the domain – JailbreakMe.com, which used to host JailbreakMe – an extremely popular jailbreak tool has been “underhandedly” sold.

This news comes after Comex – developer of the popular jailbreak tool joined Apple as an intern recently.

Update:

JailbreakMe.com Transferred To Saurik – Cydia Founder; Safe For Jailbreaking Again

MuscleNerd has warned users to avoid using JailbreakMe.com as the identity of the new owner is not known and could be potentially used to host iPhone malwares:

It’s sad @ConceitedApps sold out http://jailbreakme.com for $$. Luckily we have http://jailbreaks.me and won’t ever sell out, said MuscleNerd.

the new owner of jailbreakme.com is absolutely unknown, untrusted, and unsafe..in perfect place for iPhone malware

everything jailbreakme.com used to host will soon be on jailbreaks.me. Don’t trust jailbreakme.com anymore (seriously)

it’s the worst kind of sellout by @ConceitedApps. They didn’t even give us a chance to migrate actual jailbreakers

The good news is that JailbreakMe will now get a new home at Jailbreaks.me that is owned by iPhone Dev Team.

Before quiting the jailbreak scene as a developer to join Apple, Comex had released JailbreakMe 3.0, which was one of the easiest solutions to jailbreak iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch for iOS 4.3.3 or lower.

Meanwhile, person behind ConceitedApps, who owned the JailbreakMe.com domain has responded:

“he is lucky i even let them use it for years after they “kicked” me out. i owe them nothing”

At the time of writing this post, the JailbreakMe.com website continues to host JailbreakMe software, but as Dev Team has advised, we would recommend users to avoid it for the time being. We’ll let you know as soon as the Dev team has Jailbreaks.me up and running, hosting JailbreakMe, so stay tuned here at iPhone Hacks or join our Facebook Fan page or follow us on Twitter or subscribe to our RSS feed.
