One of major new features in iOS 8, is the all-new Messages app, which includes a number of new features and cool user interface changes.
It is a lot easier and quicker to take a photo and send it in the Messages app in iOS 8.
iOS 7 or earlier, when you tapped on the camera button, it would prompt you whether you wanted to “Take Photo or Video” or choose an existing one. Tapping on “Take Photo or Video” would launch the camera user interface, where you could switch between Photo and Video mode. You then had to tap on the shutter button to take a photo, and then hit the Send button to send the photo.
Apple has made it a lot easier and quicker to take and send pictures in the Messages app in iOS 8.
How to quickly send a photo message in the Messages app in iOS 8
- Launch the Messages app from the Home screen
- Tap on the new message icon at the top right corner of the screen.
- Tap on the + button to add a contact. Note: You can also do this while you’re in a conversation with someone.
- Tap and hold on the Camera button on the left.
- This will display an all-new circular translucent menu.
- Swipe up to take the photo and send it.
That’s it.
How to send the most recent or existing photos from the Camera roll
Apple has made it easier to send recent taken photos in iOS 8. Follow these steps:
- Instead of tapping and holding on the Camera button. Just tap on the Camera button, it will prompt you if you want to either “Take Photo or Video” or “Photo Library”.
- iOS 8 also gives you access to recently taken photos and video just above these options.
- Tap on the photos to select them either from the Photo Library or the recently taken photos tab. You should see a blue arrow at the bottom right corner, which confirms the photo has been selected.
- Tap on the Send x Photo option to send the photo/photos or tap on the Add Comment option if you want to add a comment before sending the photo.
- Enter the comment, and then hit on the Send button to send the message with the photo or photos.
Notes:
- The feature is available only with iMessage, so ensure that it is enabled in the Settings app (Settings > Messages – iMessage).
- You can use this feature in the Messages app on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch running on iOS 8.
