iH8sn0w has released Sn0wbreeze 2.2 for Windows, which allows users who want to jailbreak and also unlock their iPhone to update their iPhone with a pre-jailbroken iOS 4.2.1 firmware while preserving the baseband from getting upgraded so that it can be unlocked using Ultrasn0w.
Sn0wbreeze is considered as the unofficial PwnageTool for Windows. iPhone Dev Team have already released PwnageTool 4.2 for Mac.
Sn0wbreeze 2.2 allows users to create custom iOS 4.2.1 firmware file that is pre-jailbroken, which can be used to upgrade their iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to iOS 4.2.1. In case of iPhone, it also preserves the baseband from getting upgraded so that it can be unlocked using Ultrasn0w using the “Baseband Preservation Mode”.
Sn0wbreeze 2.1 supports the following devices:
- iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, Verizon iPhone 4
- iPod touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G
- iPad
- Apple TV 2G
Sn0wbreeze also allows users to change boot logos and also fixes the iBooks issue, which we had reported yesterday. As a bonus, you can also play Pac-Man while the custom iOS 4.2.1 firmware file is being built.
Please note that jailbreaking your iDevice may void its warranty so proceed with caution and at your own risk. Please don’t forget to backup your iPhone before you proceed. You can refer to this post for instructions on how to backup your iPhone.
You can download Sn0wbreeze 2.2 from iH8sn0w’s website.
Update 1:
Please note that Ultrasn0w 1.2 unlocks iPhone 4 baseband 01.59.00 and iPhone 3G/3GS basebands 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04 and 06.15.00.
iPad and iPod Touch users are better off using Greenpois0n as you don’t need to preserve baseband like iPhone users and also assuming that the iBooks problem is a non-issue for you.
Update 2:
Sn0wbreeze 2.2: iOS 4.2.1 Untethered Jailbreak Updated To Fix iBooks Issue Reported By Some Users
