iOS 10 raise to wake

‘Raise to Wake’ is a new feature of iOS 10 that automatically turns on the screen of your iPhone every time you pick it up and it’s facing towards you. This is very useful if you want to wake your iPhone just to check the received notification or the time. Rather than using the Home button, you can simply pick up your device to turn on the display.

The ‘Raise to Wake’ feature is one of my favorite iOS 10 features, as I wasn’t very fond of using the Power or Sleep/Wake button to access the Lock screen to prevent it from accidentally triggering Touch ID on my iPhone 6s.

Now before you get too excited, let me tell you that Raise to Wake only works in select iPhone models. This includes:

  • iPhone SE
  • iPhone 6s & iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus

If you don’t find your iPhone model in this list, then unfortunately it means that ‘Raise to Wake’ isn’t supported on your device. Otherwise, if you own one of the supported devices then read the guide below to find out how to enable or disable Raise to Wake.

The Raise to Wake feature is enabled by default, but if you find it annoying then you can disable it via the Settings app.

How to Turn Off ‘Raise to Wake’

enable or disable raise to wake ios 10

Step 1: Go to the Settings app.

Step 2: Scroll down a bit and open Display & Brightness.

Step 3: Toggle off Raise to Wake if you want to disable it, otherwise turn it on to enable.

If you chose to disable Raise to Wake, then the screen of your iPhone will no longer turn on when you pick it up. Otherwise, if it has been turned on then it should wake your device automatically as you pick it up.

Do you like the feature or do you prefer to keep it disabled?Let me know in the comments.
