An issue with the MacBook Pro released in 2011 could see lawyers weighing in with a class action lawsuit, based on a new report. For owners of the 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pro models released in that year, reportedly issues with the graphics chips, and entire system crashes, is why these lawyers are researching the next legal step.

The new report was published by MacRumors, it outlines that users who have had the problem in the past were given only small fixes for the problem. While Apple did replace some logic boards, the issues reportedly continued for most users. In either event, the owners of the large laptops were forced to fork over relatively large repair bills to fix the issue completely. The problem was so big, in fact, that a Facebook group was created that now has more than 2,200 members. If that’s not enough, a Change.org petition was also started to request a better response from Apple. That petition has reached more than 10,000 signatures, which is in part the reason why the lawyers are now getting involved.

As noted in the original report, the attorneys are based out of Washington, D.C., and from the firm Whitfield Bryson & Mason LLP. They’ve addressed the members of the Facebook group, and have created a survey to get a better feel of the situation, and to gather essential information connected to the issue.
