Rumor has it that Apple plans on launching the biggest upgrade to its MacBook Pro lineup to date, which will reportedly include an OLED touch bar above the keyboard.
That touch bar will apparently replace the physical function keys, instead opting to use an OLED bar for touch controls to manipulate display brightness, music controls, and other options. At the end of May a leaked image supposedly showed off a brand new MacBook Pro casing, which appears to have a space above the keyboard where that OLED touch bar will go.
And then artists jumped into the fray, conceptualizing what a MacBook Pro with an OLED touch bar would look like, and what features it could bring to the table. All-in-all the concept looked amazing, and now another series of concept images have surfaced, but this time tuned towards Apple’s Bluetooth keyboard. And then, most recently, macOS even referenced an OLED touch bar.
The concept images were put together by Curved, and show off the Bluetooth keyboard in its familiar white, but also envisions what the keyboard could look like in a darker shade, all the while rocking the OLED touch bar resting above the rest of the physical keyboard.
As is rumored for the upcoming MacBook Pro refresh, there’s an obvious thin OLED panel above the keyboard, which shows the function keys from left-to-right. However, there’s a big change in this concept: macOS dock icons can be implemented as well.
Third-party app integration is also conceptualized, showing off YouTube and Netflix controls.
You can check out the concept images, and tell everyone what you think of the OLED touch bar idea in the comments below.
